It was so good to see Bryan Cranston win a Tony award for his role as President Lyndon Baines Johnson in All the Way. All the Way also won for Best Play. For you Bryan Cranston and Breaking Bad fans… do not miss this! I don’t know if he will be reprising this role anytime soon, (although there are talks about an All the Way sequel).  But if you want to see the definition of a tour de force performance — this is it.

Kennedy Center Honors: Carol Channing petition is on its way!

Hello, Carol!

To the delight of her many fans, a petition supporting performing legend Carol Channing for a Kennedy Center Honor is being hand delivered to the honors committee this week.

The petition was started by Richard Skipper, an entertainer, celebrity blogger and MAC award winner, asking the honors committee to recognize Ms. Channing for her lifetime of work and accomplishment and contributions to the performing arts. Read more…

Wow, what a week! Nathan Lane, Alan Cumming, music, magic, spectacle, and a “Who knew?” performance by Andrea Martin.

I had a great time on my Broadway Vacay Staycay! Saw a whirlwind of Broadway shows plus a special tribute to Eliza Doolittle.

Last month, I announced my plans to take a week of vacation time and do nothing but see Broadway shows. As W would say, mission accomplished!

In the course of one week I saw Pippin, The Book of Mormon, The Nance, Macbeth, and a private reading of My Fair Lady that knocked my socks off. For a theater fan it doesn’t get much better than that. Read more…

I was really looking forward to the Tony announcements this week. But now I have a broken heart.

Madison Dirks was royally snubbed.

Not a household name yet, but give him time. Madison Dirks gave a great performance on Broadway this past season in a stellar production of Edward Albee’s American classic, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

He should have been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play, but he wasn’t. Read more…
