Rick McGarry is the Pumpkin Master. I had the pleasure to meet him once in Chicago at a baseball game. Since then I have been fascinated by his pumpkin carving skills. His wife Janice posts pictures of his creations frequently on Facebook, much to everyone’s pleasure and amusement.
Still euphoric from last night’s come from behind win over the Tigers by the Boston Red Sox, I was surprised to see a photo on Facebook this morning of Torii Hunter and the Boston “bullpen” cop with matching V’s, one arms, one legs.
It’s a great photo of David Ortiz’s game-tying home run blast, and appears to have been taken by Stan Grossfield of the Boston Globe. (At least that’s where I traced it.)

I have been going to their games since I was a kid and in the past few years I’ve planned road trips to see them play across the U.S. and Canada.
But what Sox player David “Big Papi” Ortiz did last night was indefensible and Sox fans need to be the first to rally and call for harsh penalties against him. Read more…
What a game last night at Fenway Park. With a final score of 17 to 5, obviously a lot happened. The Red Sox scored in seven straight innings against the Rangers, and after racking up six runs in the second, for all intents and purposes the game was over.
