Women’s NCAA: Battle of the Giants
It’s the Battle of the Giants. UConn (39-0) vs. Notre Dame (37-0) in the NCAA finals. The first time in NCAA basketball history that two unbeaten teams will play for the title.
Tuesday night’s championship match promises to be an exciting one, with a couple other things on the line for the Huskies.
If UConn men win their final tonight against Kentucky, and UConn women win, it will be only the second time the men and women’s teams from the same school have won the NCAA championship. The last time was in 2004, also by UConn.
UConn’s coach Geno Auriemma, has never lost a championship game. A victory Tuesday night will be a record ninth for him, breaking a tie with Pat Summitt for most all-time in the women’s game.
It would also mark a fifth perfect season for the women Huskies.
Beware of Dog, Notre Dame.
