Getting closer to connecting with Alaskan mystery man (?)

Nice Alaskan man lets little girl hold Dixie the dog.

Nice Alaskan man lets little girl hold Dixie the dog.

UPDATE: We found him, his name is Tony and he is from Anchorage! READ THE FULL STORY

Social media is a powerful thing. Within a few hours of posting my blog, I heard from several people who said they know the Alaskan man with the dog in the Grand Canyon picture.

My friend Tara, who took the shot, would like to send him a hard copy of the photo. Despite an amazing trip with all those scenic views, all Tara’s little girl could talk about was little Dixie the dog.

We haven’t heard from our mystery man yet (believe his name is Tony). Hopefully he’ll hear about this and touch base with us soon.

Much thanks to everyone who commented and communicated with me so far. The internet truly makes this a small world after all. We’re located in Connecticut and this has reached many nice people in Alaska.

So Tony, please feel to comment or write to me at walnut36@aol.com. Someone has a photo for you. Thanks.

Also, folks, I’m a journalist and I’m curious. Where did you hear about this story? Facebook/Blog/Twitter or some other source?

Just saw the link on Facebook. Really would like to know how this story ends!

    • Thanks Stephanie, so would I. I’ve heard from several people who say they know who he is, but he hasn’t made any contact with us as of yet. I truly hope I have not embarrassed him in any way, shape or form, as that was not the intent. The only intent was to reach him so my friend can send him a framed photograph of him and his dog at the Grand Canyon. Fingers crossed we’ll hear from him soon.

  2. This story has a very happy ending Stephanie! I’ve heard from Tony, our Mystery Man. He’s in Alaska and rather shocked that someone would go to such lengths just to give him a photo. So all is very well. An even bigger story is how quickly word spread about this. I heard within a couple hours after posting about this on my blog from Lisa W who said she knew who he was, and she was right! In fact I heard rather quickly from several people that knew Tony and they were supportive and helpful. What a nice group of people in Alaska!
